Octahedral Diamond
Polycarbonate sheets, SS rivets and rings, digitally designed transparent stickers.
An octahedron drawn entirely from equilateral triangles, each clear face veiled in a checkerboard of black and transparent — a tessellation of triangles within triangles. As it opens and closes in the hand, the layered grids drift across one another and a four-fold moiré blooms through the turning: a regular analog animation, beating at twice the rhythm of a plain wireframe grid. It is a simple 3D moiré pattern, and yet a whole optical world — a self-consistent, synchronous, self-similar motion in which triangles conjure squares.
